Youth Ministry Mission Trips
Love Begins Here July 8-11 at Lumen Christi in Mequon, WI
--> Full packet of information is coming soon! <- -
St. Teresa of Calcutta, AKA - Mother Teresa, often taught that people didn't need to travel to Africa, South America, or even Calcutta to serve others, because "love begins at home." Every community has people in need, and we should start by serving there. Inspired by Mother Teresa’s devotion to Christ and service to the poor, Love Begins Here provides teens with an opportunity to encounter Christ through service, prayer, and Catholic community within our own Archdiocese.
Who can go: This trip is open to any current 6-8th grade student. You can even bring friends from other parishes or school.
What we'll do: We'll spend our days serving people and organizations in need. This work may be done for the elderly, homeless, handicapped, or by working with community organizations. After working each day we’ll return to our home-base where we’ll have free-time, share a meal, play games, debrief, pray, and sleep each night.
Where we’ll stay: We’ll stay at Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon, WI, sleeping in classrooms.
Cost: $150. We will not offer fundraising for this event, but financial aid is available.**

What kind of work will we do? Throughout the week we will partner with organizations who serve and work with the community throughout the year. Organizations may include homeless shelters, boys and girls clubs, adult day care centers, women’s shelters, and others. Work will vary but will most likely be painting, simple building projects, cleaning up debris, landscaping, working with inner city youth, helping at a soup kitchen, etc. Remember to be open-minded, God sometimes has a plan that’s different from ours, and all worksites are chosen based on real needs in the community. So no matter what project the group is assigned, know that you will make a difference. Learn more about Alive in You at: http://www.aliveinyou.com
